How Canadian businesses can get ready for net zero

In a recent piece for the Globe and Mail, faculty from the Ivey Business School, including Wren Montgomery, discuss what it will take for Canadian businesses to reach net zero. Canada has signed the 2015 Paris Agreement and thus has committed to a net zero 2050.

Professor Robert Klassen lays out a set of critical questions that senior managers must answer as they accelerate their net-zero journey.

Wren warns the public of greenwashing that may be present in future commitments, which may take the form of misleading claims, selective disclosure, or inconsistency.

She notes that “consumers have become savvier about claims of so-called “sustainable” or “green” products. But promises about what a company will be doing in 2050 are harder to track.”
